Traveling by car

Campus Security is responsible for traffic management — including parking on KIT campuses — as well as access control to the campuses.

Please note

A company driver's license is required to operate company vehicles. In addition, you must follow the guidelines for operating KIT vehicles and for renting and sharing car-sharing vehicles. All information is available under FM Mobility.

Shared Vehicles, Bus Trips, and Taxi Reservations
 

The SC MB is happy to assist you with the arrangements.

 

An easyBANF transportation service order is required for each rental. You can create this under “Non-Procurement Processes.”

Carsharing

Car-sharing vehicles can be booked for you through the SC MB. In addition, your organizational unit has the option of obtaining access through the SC MB. This allows you to book vehicles independently.

The slogan of the initiative, which was launched as a pilot project — “One Destination — One KIT — Ride Together” — highlights that the new shuttle option also brings KIT’s strategic profile to life. Furthermore, the approach of emission-reducing carpooling aligns with the KIT Master Plan 2030, which focuses on mobility.

The KIT carpool bench complements the shuttle bus and improves connectivity between Campus North (CN) and Campus South (CS).

Three Locations

One carpool bench at each campus, designed by the Institute for Structural Engineering and Building Materials Technology.

  •  On Campus South on Engesserstraße across from the library
  • At the barrier to the west exit (Am Zirkel)
  • On Campus North in front of the South Gate (between the former cafeteria and FTU, in the direction of L 559)
How it works

Did you miss the KIT shuttle bus, or is it not running? Sit down on the bench, signal that you’re looking for a ride, and wait for an arriving vehicle.

Open to everyone

Employees and students can ride along or drive without registering; if necessary, passengers should show the driver’s KIT Card.
